Born in Marblehead, at the former Mary Alley Hospital, she was the daughter of the late James and Louise (Hunt) Russell.
She was the devoted mother of Christopher Gallo of Marblehead and Kimberly Hornblower and her husband, Brian of New Hampshire; the cherished grandmother of Turner, Reagan, and Campbell Gallo; the dear sister of Sally Byors and her late husband, David Byors of Marblehead, Kay Mancini and her husband, Guy of North Andover, and the late James Russell, the late Gifford “Buddy” Russell, the late Audrey Mitchell and her late husband, Charles Mitchell, the late Patricia Bergeron and her surviving husband, Robin Bergeron of Marblehead; and the sister-in-law of Paul Gallo and his wife, Johanna of Marblehead and Patricia Clarke and her husband, Robert of Salem. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Nancy was raised in Marblehead and graduated from Marblehead High School with the class of 1967. Nancy worked as a waitress in her early years at local restaurants including Spirit of ‘76 and Dill’s Seafood. She worked at Marblehead Savings Bank for over 21 years until her retirement. She was an avid golfer and a member of Wenham Country Club and Beverly Golf and Tennis Club. She was an accomplished artist and worked in ceramics and watercolors. She enjoyed spending winters at her home in Boynton Beach, FL and traveling the world with her husband, Phil and friends. Nancy loved to host and spend time with her many long time friends. Although her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren, Turner, Reagan, and Campbell.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Attendees are asked to gather inside the main gate at 294 West Shore Drive, at 10:45 a.m. followed by a reception at the Marblehead Masonic Hall, 62 Pleasant Street, Marblehead.
