Mary Evelyn O’Brien, of Marblehead, passed away on June 16, 2016 after a long and brave battle with cancer. She was born, August 12, 1946, and grew up in Long Beach, NY.
Mary had a passion for fashion, sewing, caring for animals, telling stories and jokes, and exploring her family’s roots by visiting Nova Scotia and Ireland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and William O’Brien, and her beloved aunt, Marion Bailey. She is survived by her son, Dr. Mark Pennesi, of Portland, Oregon.
She was buried at Waterside Cemetery in Marblehead with a nice view of the ocean. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations can be made in memory of Mary O’Brien to: Dr. David Barbie's Research Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Dana 819, Boston, MA 02215.
