Marjorie Elizabeth Twyon Rivet

1921 -2013 Marjorie Elizabeth (Twyon) Rivet, 92, formerly of Pittsfield, MA and of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the home she shared with her children. Born in Northfield, MA, sister to three brothers, Milton, Francis and Kenneth, all pre-deceased. She was the daughter of late Patrick and Elizabeth (Languay) Twyon. She was a graduate of Franklin County School of Nursing. Upon graduation, she joined the Navy during World War II, and served in Norfolk, Virginia. When the war ended she retired from the Navy as a 1st Lieutenant. She returned to Greenfield where she met her husband, Harold, at a V-Day dance. They dated for seven years, and had the good fortune of celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary on July 26 this year with their children Cindy of New York, NY, Patty and Michele of Marblehead, MA, niece Sandy Twyon of Sarasota, FL, and many friends. She was a formidable part of the Berkshire Medical Center Maternity and Neonatology team for many years until her retirement at the young age of 70. Upon retirement she and her beloved husband, Harold, opened a new chapter in their lives moving to Florida to bask in the Gulf of Mexico sunshine. She enjoyed having her special Pittsfield friends visit and share in the sunshine. She is much loved by many and will forever be remembered as a special friend to all.

The funeral for Marjorie Rivet will be held on Wednesday, October 2 at 10 am at Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead, MA, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 am at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead. The Mass will be celebrated by Father Michael Steele, Pastor, a friend and spiritual leader of the family. Burial will follow at Star of the Sea Cemetery, Marblehead. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead.
