Margareta A. (Moll) Bartlett, age 91, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Marblehead, MA on September 29, 2023. Born in Weinheim Germany, Margareta immigrated to the United States on March 21, 1952. After a short stay in New York, she relocated to the West Coast where she worked in the auditing department of J.F. Hinks in Berkley, California.
One night, Margareta reluctantly agreed to attend a YMCA dance where she met her beloved husband of 66 years, the late Sumner B. Bartlett. Following their marriage in 1954, they settled in Marblehead and Margareta become a proud citizen of the United States in 1957. Margareta held several positions in the Town of Marblehead but was best known for her 13 years in the building inspector’s office serving as secretary to the building commissioner.
Margareta had many hobbies including gardening, photography, and braiding wool rugs, but nothing was more important to her than her family. For many years, her home was the scene of fabulous holiday dinners, summer cookouts with her world’s best potato salad, and spirited backyard games with her three grandsons. Margareta took great pride in guiding and watching her children and grandchildren develop into successful happy adults.
Margareta is predeceased by her husband, Sumner B. Bartlett, her parents, Eduard P. Moll and Margarete S. Moll, her brothers Gustav (Hilde) Moll, Hellmut (Anneliese) Moll and sister Traude (Kurt) Buchhaus. She is survived by her children, Glenn E. Bartlett, Gail A. Cormier and her husband William Cormier of Marblehead and Heather R. Rudinsky and her husband Jack Rudinsky of Chandler, AZ. and her cherished grandchildren, Thomas P. Cormier, Peter S. Cormier, and Christopher W. Cormier of Boston.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7th, in the Dr. Arland A. Dirlam Chapel in Waterside Cemetery, burial to follow. Arrangements are under the care of Eustis & Cornell of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Margareta’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
