Born July 27, 1948, he was a son of the late John and Mary Petruncio. He was raised in Minersville, Pa., and graduated in 1966 from Nativity BVM High School in Pottsville, Pa. He graduated in 1970 from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and married Catherine Salvo the following year.
He worked as a science teacher in Maryland and New Jersey before moving in the late ‘70s to Bloomsburg, Pa., where he raised his family. He was a pharmaceutical salesman for 15 years before going back to teaching, a profession he loved. In addition to his family, he was dedicated to his students and spent a lot of time shopping for materials for science experiments he could do with them.
In 2016, he suffered a massive stroke and moved to Massachusetts to be with his daughter, who cared for him.
He always found the positive in life and demonstrated that through his infectious sense of humor and cheerful disposition. He enjoyed watching football, especially the Philadelphia Eagles, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, he leaves behind a son, Nicholas Petruncio, and his partner, Michael Sangiovanni, a daughter, Melinda Sanchez, and her husband, Eric Sanchez, their children, Liliana and Evan Sanchez, and his brother, John Petruncio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
