John W. Newhall

John W. Newhall Sr., 86, of Marblehead, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on September 12, 2017. He was the husband of the late Noreen A. (Kiely) Newhall with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Margaret (Cronin) Newhall.

He was a graduate of Lynn Vocational High School, class of 1949. During the Korean War he served in the Army Ordinance in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD as a machinist instructor. John was a member of the Marblehead Yacht Club for 61 years and was Commodore in 1995.

He is survived by his son, John W. Newhall Jr.; his daughter, Margaret A. Newhall; his twin brother, James L. Newhall all of Marblehead; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the brother of the late Charles E. Newhall.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead on Tuesday, September 19 at 10AM. Burial to follow in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Visiting hours will be held at Eustis and Cornell of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street on Monday, September 18 from 4-8PM.
