Mrs. Janet (Carr) Bayley, of Swampscott, MA, has died. She was the wife of the late James C. Bayley, a former Boston City Councilor and State Representative who died in 1979. A longtime member of the Tedesco Country Club, she enjoyed golf and bridge. Her extensive travels included a trip around the world with her brother, the late F. James Carr. She was an active member of Old South Church in Boston, where she helped count the collection and donated a new organ. She was a graduate of Wheaton College of Mass., where you will find the “Carr Pool”, a hot tub for the students. She also attended Milton Academy and graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth High School. She donated her time to the local Swampscott Public Library.
She was the sister of the late Leonard Carr, the late Rachel (Carr) White, and the late F. James Carr. She is survived by her sons James of Watertown, Richard of Swampscott and Robert of Longwood, FL, her daughter-in-law Valerie, two grandsons James, Jr. and Benjamin, and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4-7 PM in the Eustis & Cornell Funeral Home 142 Elm Street, Marblehead. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 1 PM in the Old South Church, 645 Boylston Street (Corner of Dartmouth & Boylston) Boston. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Old South Church, 645 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02116 or to Wheaton College, 26 E. Main Street, Norton, MA 02766.
