James Patrick Murphy

James “Jimmy” Patrick Murphy, 62, of Beverly, MA, formally of Marblehead, MA, died May 11, 2018, at Northeast Arc’s Hale House. Jimmy was born December 27, 1955, in Boston, MA, to John and Ann (Follett) Murphy of Marblehead, MA.

Jimmy was born with Down Syndrome but that never slowed him down. Jimmy performed detail work under the direction and loving care of Northeast Arc for the past twenty years.

Jimmy was always in good spirits and had an infectious laugh. If he wasn’t looking for a refill of his favorite beverage, coffee, he would often be found with his pockets stuffed with his favorite candy, m&m’s.

Jimmy is survived by his sister Mary Chaisson LeBrun and Peter LeBrun of Viera, FL; nephew Gregory Chaisson and spouse Kathy, and children Katlyn and Nicole; nephew Stephen Chaisson, and children Colby, Jordan and Trevor; nephew Jeffery Chaisson; and niece Jennifer Chaisson and partner Ruben Cortes of Marblehead, MA; brother Michael Francis Murphy of Freeland, MD and spouse Arlene, and Michael’s son Shawn Murphy and spouse Farah and children Drago and Viggo of Swampscott, MA; sister-in-law Claire Mercier Murphy of Viera, FL. He is also survived by his housemates, Sarah Chisholm, Mariann Guzofski and Deborah House, whom will all miss him terribly.

It’s with special recognition that Jimmy is survived by his Hale House care givers: Piera Gerena, Rebecca Guiter, Kebir Hachlafi, Maria Gomez, Karolyn Gomez, Leah LaRiviere, Pauline Karanja, Fatou Sowejatta, Nicole DiStefano, Gigi Ellabar and Hamza Ojly.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Murphy on October 31, 1999; mother Ann Murphy on January 1, 1997; and older brother John William Murphy on April 30, 2016.

A funeral service will be held at the Eustis & Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Thursday, May 17 at 11:30AM followed by burial in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
