Harold H. Hall, Jr., 83, passed away after a brief illness. Harold excelled at football in High School, but instead of pursuing a football scholarship, he chose instead to enlist in the Navy. After his enlistment in the Navy was up, Harold put himself through night school doing a variety of jobs which help to enable him to become a jack of all trades, tools he would use throughout his life.
Harold's ultimate career became the research lab at Sylvania for which he worked for over thirty years. At the time of his retirement from Sylvania at age 63, Harold had over 20 patents to his credit.
His mind was always working, even in downtime when we could be found at the Market Square, where was one of the oldest and longest members, deep in a game of cribbage. When not exercising his mind, he was often seen exercising his body walking around Marblehead along with his beloved chocolate lab, Dakota.
Harold is survived by his wife Phyllis, daughter and son-in-law Leslie and Eric Couture, daughter Kimberly Shepard and two grandsons Shawn and Tyler Shepard. Harold is also survived by two sisters, Doris Stacey and Gertrude McKenzie along with many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service with honors will be held in Waterside Cemetery, 294 West Shore Drive, Marblehead on Tuesday, December 30 at 11:30AM. Visiting hours will be held in the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Monday from 4-8PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to either the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers or the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem.
