Elaine H. (Nashawaty) Cardillo

MARBLEHEAD - Elaine Helen (Nashawaty) Cardillo, age 91, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the Bertram House of Swampscott. She was happily married for 53 years to William E. Cardillo who predeceased her in 2008. They raised their family in Norwood and enjoyed their last years together in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida fulfilling their dream of living on the ocean.

Born in West Roxbury, Elaine was the daughter of the late Abraham and Esma (Cardoos) Nashawaty, and the sister of the late Elian (Leo), Dimitri, Thomas, Nicholas, Fred, Arthur, Laurice (Laurie) Balara, and Evelyn (Leona) Maguire.

She was the devoted mother of Jane (Richard) Fitzpatrick of Marblehead and Andrea (Alexander) Pastick of Auburn; the cherished Nana of Arielle (Edward) Marlette, Alex Pastick, and Will Fitzpatrick, all of whom she was extremely proud; and great-grandmother of Margaret Elaine Marlette. She is survived by her sister-in-law Carolyn Ede Nashawaty, and by many nieces and nephews including Brenda and Arthur (Buddy) Nashawaty, with whom she shared a special bond.

Per Elaine’s wishes, a private funeral mass was held at Our Lady, Star of the Sea and the family gathered to celebrate her memory. Nothing made Elaine happier than for her entire family to be together.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Bertram House of Swampscott for their acts of kindness to Elaine while she was a resident; and the caregivers at NeighborGood Care, who went above and beyond, providing exemplary care to make Elaine’s last month enjoyable and comfortable.
