Diane E. Durkee, 84, of Merrimack, New Hampshire, passed away on Sunday, 17 March 2019. For 64 years she was the beloved wife of Richard Y. Durkee. She was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on 1 May 1934, and grew up in Marblehead. Diane was one of three daughters of the late Leo Joseph and Rena (Dennison) Mailloux.
Diane and her husband spent 28 years of their life in the military on assignments across the United States that included Maryland, Virginia, Alaska, Kansas, and Massachusetts. She loved the Army life and volunteered in numerous base activities as a member of the Officer’s Wives Club. Above all she enjoyed spending summers at their house on Lake Winnipesaukee in Gilford, NH with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Pamela Ann and husband George Bennett of Ellicott City, MD; daughter Sharon Durkee of Manchester, NH; daughter Renee Jean and husband Chris Fletcher of Bedford, NH; son Richard Thomas Durkee of Nashua, NH; and son Steven Yuill and wife Kirsten from Ellicott City, MD. She was also known as “Grammy” or “Grammin” by her 10 grandchildren Christine and her husband Wes, Geoffrey and his wife Lindsey , Jessica, Danielle, Robert, Andrew, Allie, Matthew, Ian and Nicole, and her six great-grandchildren Brayden, Julianna, Cason, Kamryn, Pierce and Natalie. She was preceded in death by her sister Myra Stockton and survived by her sister Shirley Hazeltine.
Diane’s family will receive friends at her viewing on Friday, 22 March 2019, from 11:00am-1:00 pm at Eustis and Cornell funeral home of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street, 01945 (781-631-0076). Interment will be private for the family following the viewing.
