She was the beloved wife of the late John “Pete” Campbell.
Cheryl was a true native “Header” and lifelong resident of Marblehead. She was the daughter of the late Paul T. Grant and Eleanor L. (Small) Grant. She graduated from Marblehead High School with the Class of 1961. She went on to earn a Master’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in 1967.
A passionate and talented musician, she was a trained classical orchestral cellist, taught cello for many years and participated in many regional orchestras including the Salem Philharmonic, North Shore Music Theater, and Symphony by the Sea, Beverly. Cheryl was also a great fan of Outlander and Yellowstone. She also enjoyed many dice game dinners with her family.
Besides her beloved husband, John "Pete" Campbell, she was predeceased by her sister, Ardeth G. Much who passed away January 1, 2023, and her step-son, Scott Campbell. She is survived by many loving cousins, her brother-in-law, Carl Much, step daughter, Betty Boles, step-daughter-in-law, Michelle Campbell, step
grandchildren, John Campbell, Peter Campbell, Jessica Campbell, step great grandchildren, James and Darby and other extended family. She is also survived by her best friend of many years, Mary Ellen Dolan, many students and many personal and musical friends. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Later in the summer, according to her wishes, Cheryl’s, Pete's and their dog, Seaweed's ashes will be scattered at sea off the coast of Marblehead where she and her beloved Pete enjoyed many happy times spent together. Family and friends are invited to attend at a time and day to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that a donation be made in memory of Cheryl to the American Cancer Society.
