MARBLEHEAD – Ann MacDonald Loveland, age 87, formerly of Marblehead, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at her home with her daughter, Julie, by her side. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Herrick Loveland, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage at the time of his death in 2015, and by her son Kevin Peter Loveland who passed in 1999.
Ann was proud of her Scottish-Canadian heritage; she was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia, the daughter of the late Dan John and Margaret Ann “Elizabeth” (Gillis) MacDonald. She was raised and educated in Nova Scotia, and immigrated to the United States and was equally proud of becoming a citizen. Ann worked for the airlines for a time until she met and married her husband, Donald and settled in Marblehead where she raised her children. When her children were old enough, Ann worked in the Marblehead Town Clerk’s Office in Abbot Hall for many years until her retirement. Ann will be remembered for her generosity, kindness and always putting everyone else before herself. Her remaining children consider her a saint with a heart of gold.
She is survived by her sons, Donald E. Loveland and Russell C. Loveland, her daughter, Julie (aka Juliet) Loveland; her 3 grandchildren, Kirstin Loveland, Noah Loveland and Lily Bohn; her brothers, Jack and Creighton MacDonald; her beautiful sisters-in-law, Ann MacDonald and Kathy Loveland and talented brother-in-law William O. Thompson.
