Early Saturday morning, November 19, 2022, six days after her 89th birthday, Vanita Faye Stephens passed away. She was born on November 13, 1933, during the height of the great depression, to Willard Glenn and Mamie Lee Bertling. She was the oldest of four children and she was a life-long resident of Texas.
Faye was preceded in death by her son (Daniel Lee Stephens), her brother (Willard Bertling), and her sister (Carol Sellers). She is survived by her brother (Gerald Bertling), three sons (Glen Stephens, Leslie Stephens, and Timothy Stephens), seven grandchildren (Allen Stephens, Trent Stephens, Tanner Stephens, Kale Stephens, Krissy Stephens, Savanah Reeves, and Haley Nguyen), and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Faye owned a bakery for many years. She also opened bakeries and trained staff for Maplehurst, where one of her projects made it into the Guinness Book of World Records (the world’s largest strawberry shortcake).
Faye enjoyed substitute teaching for Marble Falls ISD and often relived fond memories of her students. She loved her family and hoped to pass on a love for God and a deep faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. We will miss her on this earth, but see her again in heaven.
Faye’s memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, the 28th, at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls, Texas. Pastor Billy M. Wright, Jr. will be presiding. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at the Stephens Family Cemetery in Marble Falls, Texas. Her pallbearers are Allen, Trent, Tanner, Kale, Stan, Mark, Rick, and Greg. Haley, Krissy, and Kale will share special music and memories.
