Tootsie was born on September 17, 1931, in Marble Falls Texas to Alice Delaney Crownover and Robert Crownover. She was the middle child, having had an older sister, Bobby Jean, and a younger brother, Gary. Tootsie went to school in Marble Falls and graduated High School in 1948. A year later she married Clayton Nolen in 1949, and they were married for 32 years and had four children, Clayton passed away in 1982. Tootsie later married longtime friend Wilbur Smith in 1986, who passed away in 1989.
Tootsie was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Marble Falls, where she was active in the choir, hand bell choir, and taught Sunday School for many years. She was involved in the community over the years as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a member of the Garden Club and Eastern Star. After raising her four children she enjoyed working at the Marble Falls Flower and Gift Shop as well as the Marble Falls Chamber of Commerce, until retiring at her home in the country near Round Mountain. She later returned to Marble Falls and lived out her last years in Waco under the loving care of her son Bill and daughter-in-law Susan, surrounded by family.
She is survived by her Sister Roberta Jean “Bobbie” Word of Round Mountain, her Brother Gary Crownover of Round Mountain, her four children, Bob Nolen and wife Marjorie of Round Mountain, Bill Nolen and wife Susan of Waco, Becky Branon and husband Bubba of Marble Falls, Dee Nolen and wife Brigitte of Marble Falls, her 17 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. Tootsie was preceded in death by her husband Clayton Nolen and second husband Wilbur Smith, her father Robert Crownover, her mother Alice Crownover, and great grandson Christopher Nolen.
No formal visitation will be held but the family wishes you to know that EVERYONE is invited to a reception to be held at the Nolen Ranch 5365 RR 3347 in Round Mountain following the service and interment.
