Ron served with the Dallas Police Department, Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, for over ten years. He was awarded the Expert Marksman Award and was certified in Explosive Sabotage Devices. Ron went on to work for the First National Bank Texas as Vice President of Fraud and Embezzlement, accomplishing much success for the institution's department. At Ron's retirement party he was deemed "The Legend".
Ron was dearly loved by all who knew him. Notorious for his dry sense of humor and witty one-liners he could make you laugh at any given moment.
Married on June 26, 1976 he celebrated 47 years with the love of his life, Peggy (Sunny) Cummings. In his spare time, Ronald enjoyed a life of fun and joy with his family, friends and dogs. He especially enjoyed the lake life of boating, fishing, short water, and firecamps.
Ron is survived by his wife Sunny Hinson; children: Lance Hinson and wife Andi, Kirsten Lewis, Blake Hinson and wife Jennifer, and Andrea Ferrata and husband Doug; brothers: Tom Hinson and wife Anne, and Kenneth Hinson; sister-in-law: Vickie Oetker and husband Gary; brother-in-law: Tim Cummings and wife Susan; nieces: Heather Rimlinger, Julia Hinson, Kate Hinson, and Alex Cummings; nephews: John Hinson, Korey Hinson, Jeremy Koelemay, Nathan Koelemay, Parker Cummings, and Bryce Cummings; grandchildren, Jake Hinson, Holly McCarthy, Reed Lewis, Olivia Lewis, Gage Hinson, Cole Ferrata, Cody Hinson, Jack Ferrata, Charlotte Hinson, Ava Ferrata, and Lily Hinson; and great grandchild: Graham Hinson.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Bartow and Merle Hinson; brother-in-law: Bill Cummings Jr.; father-in-law: Bill Cummings; mother-in-law: Margie Cummings; and son-in-law: Scott Lewis.
