Long time Marble Falls resident and retired teacher,Martha Nesrsta, passed away on Saturday the 16th of October at the Lighthouse Hospice in Round Rock, Texas. Services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 20th at The Fellowship Baptist Church on Mormon Mill Road and will led by her pastor, Matt Homeyer. Burial will be in Waelder, Texas at the Hopkinsville Masonic Cemetery and will be led by her nephew, Phil Fitzgerald. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Yates, Ron Mitchell, Marion Nichols, Walton Cotton, Cecil Allee, Jim Ogg, Travis Thomas and Stacy Frasier.
Martha was born January 8, 1933 to John and Roland Witten Tumlinson. She graduated from Waelder High School and later from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. In 1966 Martha and her family moved from Pasadena, Teas to the hill country to establish a summer camp for boys and girls on lake LBJ. Later, she began teaching 3rd and 5th grades at Marble Falls Elementary and taught 28 years before retiring. Martha loved her students and enjoyed sharing stories about the comical things kids would say and do.
Martha enjoyed hunting and especially sitting around the campfire sharing hunting tales. She loved her many friends and was known as the event planner who treated everyone to annual birthday celebrations. She was a gifted cook and hostess whose Christmas dinners and Thanksgiving feasts were beyond compare. She spoiled her grandchildren every chance she got and never, ever, missed one of their events.
Martha was preceded in death by her son, David, and bother her parents. She is survived by her son, Andy Nesrsta and wife, Rhonda of Marble Falls; grandson Blake and granddaughter, Taylor; sister, Mary Jane Miksch and husband Thomas of Moss Hill, Texas; many nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends.
Martha was an active volunteer of Meals of Wheels and was a proud cancer survivor. She also loved volunteering for Lighthouse Hospice and it was in their loving arms that she returned to spend her final days. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Marble Falls. Memorials may be made to the Relay for Life of Marble Falls and Fellowship Baptist Church.
