Kenneth W. Speer, long time resident of Highland Lakes Area, including Kingsland, Highland Haven, and Marble falls went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 12, 2011. Ken was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was the first President of the Kingsland Branch. He was known by the children of the church as the “Candy man” as he gave candy to them after church each Sunday.
Before retiring, Ken was a self-employed, custom cabinet maker.
Ken was born June 8, 1920 in Pana, Illinois. He was a Purple Heart veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
Ken is survived by his wife, Elaine, five children, ten grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
His eulogy will be Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Marble Falls.
