Jerry Wayne Teaff, of Marble Falls, was taken to heaven on August 30, 2023, following a struggle with lung cancer. Born in Goree, Texas, on October 1, 1942, to James Royce and Virginia Irene Teaff, Jerry started to school at Sudan, Texas, but graduated from Bula school in 1961.
Joining the Peace Corps in 1963, he lived in Brazil for two years, as an agricultural agent, known to the natives as “Dr. Jerry.” From his training group he made several life-long friends. He also served in the Navy, in Vietnam, working on an aircraft carrier. Later, he graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Park Administration.
About this time, he started dating a girl who worked in her parents’ grocery store in Bula. He married Margaret Richardson on December 27, 1973. Over the years, Jerry has been a professional artist, taught a year of school, worked at Plant X, and was a master electrician with his own business. Moving to Marble Falls, Texas, in 1982, Jerry continued his electrical business, until he became an independent catastrophe insurance adjuster, working in several states.
Jerry was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Copeland Class. He was always known as an extremely creative person who could “do anything,” described by many as “an amazing guy.” His hobbies included RVing, Bible study, woodworking, arrowhead hunting, flintknapping, poker, and taking care of all his animals. He never met a stranger and was known for his generosity. He was a great storyteller, known for his quick one-liners and never-ending sense of humor.
Survivors in Jerry’s family include his wife, Margaret Teaff; his sister, Cheryl Dianne Parker (Donald); nieces and nephews including Laura Jean Weaver (Ricky), Bobbi Murphy, and Jeremy Murphy. Other family members include: Haley Burg (Miles), Maddox and Palmer Burg; Spin, Brady, Skylor, Damien, and Jeremy Murphy; in-laws: Mike and Jean Richardson, Michael Richardson, and Misty Simmons (Scott.) He also has a multitude of friends-who-are-like-family, including the Rudd family, the Copeland Class, his Peace Corps family, his RV group, and his poker buddies. He was preceded in death by his parents.
To honor Jerry’s memory, we simply ask that you remember to pass on blessings to other people, just as he did.
The family has scheduled a Celebration of Life for Friday, October 6, 2023, at the Lakeside Pavilion in Marble Falls at 4:00.
