Grace Self Wallen

Grace is survived by her dedicated husband, William Wallen of Meadowlakes, TX her son, Charles Self and his wife Linda of Beaumont, TX; and one grandson Karl M. Self and his wife Stephanie of Austin, TX., as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Grace was preceded in death by her first husband Clifford S. Self, Jr., November 17, 1979, and first-born son Karl M. Self, December 12, 1987.

Grace was born on June 17, 1925 in Hollis, OK, but she was raised in Austin, TX. As a young woman, she moved to Beaumont, TX where she met and married Clifford. Grace was not only a dedicated mother, but also a very talented Interior Decorator and she owned and operated a successful business in Beaumont named “Self Custom Decorating”. She was in high demand for her services, until she retired at the age of 72. She continued to dabble with interior design until ill health prevented this endeavor. She met Bill who also lived in Beaumont at the time. They married and eventually moved to Meadowlakes, TX where they shared a wonderful life together. Bill cared for and nurtured my mother until the end. Grace was an inspiration to the many who knew her.

A celebration of life for Grace is scheduled for December 13, 2022 at 10:00 AM, under the direction of Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls, TX, with interment on December 14, 2022 at 2:00PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont, TX.
