William Ernest Coffindaffer, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. He was born on May 10, 1947, to Ernest and Kathleen (Mann) Coffindaffer in Mansfield, Ohio.
William graduated from Ontario High School in 1965 and went on to proudly served his country in the United States Army. A dedicated union man, he worked for over 30 years with Local 169 United Steel Workers, where he made lasting friendships and contributed to the strength of his community.
On July 1, 1972, William married the love of his life, Theresa Zellner. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Known for his strong will and cantankerous humor, William was a generous spirit who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly fishing and playing cards. His greatest delight came from spending time with his family.
William is survived by his wife, Theresa Coffindaffer; his son, Matthew (Jennifer) Coffindaffer, grandchildren Shelby (Logan) Bellville, Madison (Joshua) Hykel, and Mason Coffindaffer, great-grandchildren Kason Hykel, Evelyn Bellville, Braxton Hykel, and Axel Bellville; his sister, Barbara Lambert; brother, Mike Coffindaffer; nephews, Paxton (Tiffany) Wood and Bryce (Kristen) Wood; great-nephews, Jace Wood and Weston Wood; great-niece, Delaney Wood; along with many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lawrence and Scott Coffindaffer, and stepmothers Jeanette Coffindaffer and Eva Mae Coffindaffer.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield. The funeral service with military honors will take place on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the same location with pastors Al Cooper, Patrick Bailey, and Chris Thomas officiating. William will be laid to rest at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice.
