
William E. Aplin, age 49, of Mansfield, died Thursday, March 2, 2000 at Med Central after an extended illness. Bill was born June 26, 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio, moving to the Mansfield area in 1980. He was a Rehabilitation Counselor for the Bureau of Workman's Compensation having graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Masters Degree. He was a member of St. Peter's Church, the Bell Choir, and was a volunteer at St. Peter's High School. He coached Southwest Little League, was a Council Representative and Union Delegate for S.E.I.U., and was a Co-coordinator of the combined charitable campaign for United Way. He was a loving husband and devoted father to his son and a father figure for a host of young children and young adults in the Mansfield area. Surviving are his wife, Angie Aplin of Mansfield; one son, Sean Aplin of Mansfield; his mother, Gwendolyn Aplin of Concord, Ohio; one special aunt, Ruth Morgan of Maple Heights; two sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth Aplin of Concord, Ohio; Donna and Michael Sears of Mentor, Ohio and one niece, Michelle Sears of Lakewood, Ohio; one nephew, Michael Patrick Sears of Mentor, Ohio; his mother-in-law, Catherine Scharf of Mansfield, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Dr. Kathleen Scharf of Chicago, IL and Dr. Paula Adsit of San Francisco, CA; two brothers-in-law, Father Patrick Scharf of Napoleon, Ohio, Father Lawrence Scharf of Monroeville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Aplin and a father-in-law, Lawrence A. Scharf. Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Sunday, March 5, 2000 from 2-4:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with a 8 p.m. Vigil Service. Funeral services will be at St. Peters Catholic Church on Monday, March 6, 2000 at 10 a.m. conducted by brother-in-laws Father Lawrence and Father Patrick Scharf. Burial will be at Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made for use as a college fund for his son or to St. Peter'00s Development Fund.
