In loving memory of Walter Robinson, Jr., 80, of Shiloh, Ohio, who died Saturday, April 14, 2018. Born September 16, 1937, in Pikeville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Walter Sr. and Dorsie (Sturgell) Robinson.
Walter lived his early years in and around Pikeville, moving to Mansfield with his wife, Nellie Ruth (Thacker) Robinson in 1956. Together, they lived in the Mansfield/Shiloh area until his wife's death in 2014, after which Walter remained in Shiloh.
He retired from Ideal Electric and was a member of Mansfield Freewill Baptist Church. He traveled the United States extensively over the years with his family and spent weekends enjoying his home. Walter's loved ones will carry in their hearts the memory of a solid and dependable man who was always there for everyone, and had a wonderful, unique sense of humor, and enjoyed a good laugh. His children will always treasure Saturday mornings that found their dad tinkering in the garage or working in the lawn and garden.
Walter is survived by a son, Randy (Sue) Robinson of Mansfield; two daughters, Charlene (Mike) Rock of Mansfield and Ruth (David) Deal of Butler, OH; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and wonderful nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three half brothers, Clyde, Fred and Bill Robinson; two sisters, Donna Sue Maynard and Phyllis Wagner; two brothers, Clinton and Kenneth Robinson; one grandson, Michael Rock; and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Rock.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Addition visitation will be held in the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Mark Bailey officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Mansfield Freewill Baptist Church.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for all the wonderful support Walter received over the last few years from great friends, neighbors, his pastor, Mark Bailey, and his precious church family.
