Vern Smith

Vern K. Smith, 88, of Mansfield died Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at home. He was born August 15, 1916 in Mansfield living here all his life. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during WWII and retired from D & W Paint. He also worked for Wooldridge Woods Golf Course for over twenty years. He was a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Sons of Herman, and loved to golf.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Paulette Smith of Ontario, and Bob and Winona Smith of Newport, TN; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Bob Barnes of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Kimberly McLaughlin of Mansfield, Carrie Johnson of Mansfield, Matthew Smith of Mansfield, Cindy Sterling of Reno, Nevada, and Rusty Smith of Mansfield; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Pschirer Smith; and his parents.

Friends may call at Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday, September 24, 2004 from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Bruce Copley, will be held Saturday, September 25, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Windsor Park Cemetery.
