
Vera Hardy, age 88, of Mansfield, died Tuesday morning June 26, 2001 at Brethren Care, Ashland, Ohio following a brief illness. Mrs. Hardy was born March 6, 1913 in Morgantown, West Virginia living in the Mansfield area since 1933. She was employed at Tappan's during World War II and then retired from Westinghouse after 31 years of service. Mrs. Hardy had been an active member of First Alliance Church. She was a member of the Veterans club of Westinghouse, Local and National A.A.R.P.
Surviving are a son, James W. Hardy of Knoxville, Tennessee; two grandsons and their spouses, Michael & Becky Hardy of Mason, Ohio and Todd & Connie Hardy of Westchester, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Carolyn Joy, Jonathan, & Rachel Ann Hardy; a sister, Etta Brewer of Pasadena, Texas and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Leslie & Sarah Ann Householder Carman; her husband, Roy W. Hardy in December 1988; three brothers; and six sisters.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Charles Holmes. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Alliance Church.
