Thelma Marie Swihart Crawford, 91, of Mansfield, died Thursday evening, January 12, 2006 at Richland-Beanblossom Healthcare Center in Bloomington, Indiana. Born July 30, 1914 in Little Sandusky, Ohio, she was the daughter of Cyrus E. and Clementine Bowman Swihart. She was a member of the Central Methodist Church, the Republican Women's Association, Pythian Sisters, and Youth-Piano and Voice, all in Mansfield. A homemaker and cook, she lived in the Mansfield area most of her life. Mrs. Crawford graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1932. She was also a member of Ruth Circle, the Richland County Republican Women's Club, the Too Young to Quit Club, and AARP 3718.
She is survived by one son, Ronald E. Crawford of Columbus; two daughters, Carolyn M. Keiser of Mansfield, and Deborah S. Hoffman of Bloomington, Indiana; five grandchildren, Scott A. Keiser, Michael T. Keiser, Richard A. Keiser, Bradley K. Hoffman, and Kyle R. Hoffman; and nine great-grandchildren, Lauren, Kristen, and Madelyn Crawford, Kendra, Kayla, Kiara, Jessica, and Anthony Keiser, and Sandler Hoffman. She was preceded in death on March 16, 1992 by her husband, Stanford C. Crawford, whom she married May 29, 1936; her parents; grandson, Mark L. Crawford on February 14, 1997; and five brothers, Robert, Ora, Elza, Roy, and Thomas Swihart.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 16 at the funeral home conducted by Rev. David Root. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and the Alzheimer's Association.
