Steve B. Bogner, 97, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield. Born June 28, 1915 in Mansfield, he was the son of Jacob and Magdalena (Distl) Bogner. Along with his wife, Beatrice, Steve owned and operated Bogner Dry Cleaners which they founded in 1938. They also owned and operated One Hour Cleaners, Colonial Coin Laundry, and Diamond St. Laundromat. Steve was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church on Middle-Bellville Road, the board of trustees of First National Bank, and Mansfield Downtown Businessman Association, the board of The Ada Ford Foundation, and past president of the Ohio Dry Cleaners Association. He was a family man who golfed until age 95 and enjoyed traveling with his family after his retirement.
He is survived by his four daughters and sons-in-law, Stephany and Russell Hepner of Shelby, Brenda and Jonathan Holcomb of Gambier, Bethany and Greg Woerth of Worthington, and Belinda Bogner and Mark Kroger of Mansfield; grandchildren, Chad Steven (Kim) Hepner and Kimberly Mae (Scott) Van Almen, both of Michigan, Brett (Sarah) Holcomb of Chicago, IL, Matthew Steven Holcomb of Baltimore, MD, Ashley Brynn Holcomb of Michigan, and Brian Bogner (Elizabeth) Woerth, Tara Aubrey (Oliver) Carpenter, and Benjamin Thomas (Brittany) Woerth, all of Columbus; step grandchildren, Megan Kroger (Ryan) Knapp of Mansfield and Michael Kroger of Indianapolis, IN; great grandchildren, Logan, Wyatt, Brooke, Shelby, Vincent, Whitney, Braden, Connor, Ava, Lyla, Kelsey, Luke, and Bentleigh; and sister, Rebecca (Walter) Emich of Akron. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Beatrice M. Bogner on October 27, 2012; brothers, Jacob, Harry, Paul, and David; sisters, Esther and Ruth; and grandson, Drew Hanley Holcomb.
Friends may call Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, 1332 Middle-Bellville Road, Mansfield, conducted by Marc Contrascere. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church.
