Sally Madeline Suber-Camak Atwater, 82, died February 2, 2008. She passed away at Woodlawn Nursing Home after an extended illness. Madeline Atwater was born July 6, 1925 to the late Eddie and Essie Camak-Suber in Blair, South Carolina. She had been a resident of Richland County most of her life.
Surviving are sons, Reed Theresa Atwater of Mansfield and Danny Atwater of Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Kathelyn Atwater of Mansfield; and grandchildren, Nathan Atwater of Mansfield, Suzanne Atwater of Columbus, Angela Atwater Grimes of Cincinnati, Justin Teah Atwater and Leah Atwater, all of Mansfield; and two great-grandchildren, Dominic Atwater and Essence Atwater. She is also survived by two sisters, Burline Willis and Donzel Moore; sister-in-law, Peggy Roy West of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. Madeline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Atwater; son, Vincent Atwater; and sister, Thomasine Smith.
In her early years, she worked at the Shelby Depot. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was very expressive and humorous when she talked to people. She loved life, family and friends. Madeline enjoyed gardening but found even more joy planting the seed of God's Word, the Bible, by pursuing the full time evangelizing work for many years. She helped many people appreciate what it means to have a close and intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father, Jehovah God and His son, Jesus Christ, which she warmly treasured over the years. She was a member of the Mansfield North Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 16 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1745 Walker Lake Rd., Mansfield. Services will be officiated by David Dunn. There will be no calling hours or viewing.
