Sadie Marie Turnbaugh blessed the world for ten years before going to Heaven with Jesus on Saturday, September 29, 2018. She was loved dearly by her parents, Wesley and Trisha; her brothers, Colton, Ethan, and Mason; her close-knit extended family of grandparents, Tunie and Connie Turnbaugh and Robert and Sonya Ohl; great grandparents, Linda Ohl, Harold and Ramona Gilbert; aunts, uncles and cousins, Nick, Alison, Adison, Morgan, and Tyler Turnbaugh, Trent Ohl and Michael Mullaly, Joshua, Lauren, Vinny, and Theo Ohl, Jennifer, Joshua, Kaleb, Landen, Ayden, Hope, Joy, and Joel Perry; great aunts and uncles; second and removed cousins; and her many cherished friends. Her family is heartbroken, but they thank God for the beautiful years they shared with Sadie, and they take comfort knowing that she rests in God’s perfect care and tender love.
Sadie was all the beauty of childhood: kind but direct, naïve but curious, sweet but spirited-joyful and mischievous and charming. She loved horses and wee-haws, she loved yoga, she loved watching Hallmark movies with her mommy and daddy, she loved being the headmistress of her kitchen-table schoolroom, and she never played a game that wasn’t improved by “Sadie’s Rules”. Sadie made art and gifts prolifically for the people she loved: she made slime for her cousins and taught them the nuances of the perfect mess; she placed labels of “Grandpa” and “Sadie” on two plump pinecone owls sitting side-by-side; she shared candy with her friends at wrestling tournaments, often producing a row of children with blue-stained lips and teeth; she drew messages with pictures and promptly scratched out anyone’s attempts to contribute; she withheld hugs and kisses until each one felt like a gift at the end of the day; and an “I love you” from Sadie was felt in the chest.
Sadie didn’t like to sleep alone instead always finding a spot next to her mother, father, or a brother. She was daddy’s princess, mommy’s little girl, and her brothers’ number-one fan and cheerleader. She will have a place in their hearts forever. They rejoice in the great blessing of her life despite their sadness, and they will see her again in Heaven.
The family welcomes friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Mansfield First Assembly of God, 1000 McPherson St., Mansfield. The service celebrating the wonderful life of Sadie will be held at the church on Friday at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Blair officiating. She will be laid to rest in Ontario Cemetery, 3540 Park Avenue West, Ontario. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
