Ruth Ann G. Shaw, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2020 at Crystal Care Nursing Home surrounded by her children in Mansfield, OH. Ruth Ann was born in St. James, Minnesota, on August 5, 1939, being the youngest of seven children of Fred Kuhlman and Erma (Seller) Kuhlman.
Ruth Ann graduated from Truman High School (Minnesota) in 1957. She later attended Mankato Commercial College where she completed a five month course in Private Secretary Finishing. After completing her courses in 1958, Ruth Ann worked as a secretary for the Social Security Administration in multiple locations such as Mankato, Minnesota; Mason City, Iowa; Daytona Beach, Florida; and ultimately in Mansfield, Ohio. She married William Shaw in 1963, but divorced seventeen years later in 1980.
Ruth Ann occupied herself for a time by working at Sprint-United Telephone for over ten years and later worked as a cashier at Value City. Ruth enjoyed the simple things of life such as driving to Marion, Ohio, just to eat a piece of pie. She was an avid reader and enjoyed participating in card games with friends. She would treat herself to eating out and, later in life, became a faithful follower of the Cleveland Indians. She would even set her alarm to wake up late in the night to see away games.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Erma Kuhlman, and her siblings. She is survived by two daughters, Renee Shaw of Mansfield, OH, Lori (Dave) Marsh of Mansfield; and her son, Aaron (Rachel) Shaw of Bailey, MI; six grandsons, Gabe Dolce, Nehemiah Shaw, Jacob Marsh, Augustin Shaw, Judah Shaw, and Canaan Shaw; six granddaughters, Sarah Easterling, Olivia Sirois, Hannah Shaw, Ally Marsh, Keziah Shaw, Hadassah Shaw; and four great-grandsons, Henry Easterling, Ivan Easterling, Leo Easterling, and Calvin Sirois.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 21, 2020, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario, OH. A funeral service for Ruth Ann will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Aaron Shaw officiating, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse.
