Russell G. Zimmerman, 84 of Mansfield, Ohio died February 8, 2000 at Crestwood Care Center following an extended illness. Mr. Zimmerman was born January 11, 1916 in Wayne County, Ohio residing in the Mansfield area since 1946. He retired from the Ohio Department of Agriculture as a loan officer and was a member of First English Lutheran Church. Mr. Zimmerman was a graduate of Ohio State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He was a member of Mansfield Men's Garden Club and Home Builders Sunday School Class of his church. Mr. Zimmerman was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during World War II.Surviving are his wife Maxine Zimmerman whom he married August 6, 1939; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ronald Zimmerman of Mansfield; and Gary and Wendy Zimmerman of Mansfield; two granddaughters, Kimberly of Mansfield; and Linnea of Akron; three sisters, Freda Swineford and Ruby Van Zile of Wooster, Ohio; and Edith Crooks of Versailles, Ohio; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Chester and Jean Zimmerman of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; and Roy and Kaye Zimmerman of Columbus, Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland George and Floy Lehr Zimmerman; and one sister, Norma Jean.Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Friday from 5-9 p.m. and one hour prior to funeral services which will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Cloyd Kress. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Organ Fund of First English Lutheran Church.
