Russell Leroy Bishop, 79, of Mansfield, died Sunday afternoon, July 30, 2006, at the Cleveland Clinic after an extended illness. Born May 29, 1927, in Mansfield, he was the son of the late Leona Bishop. He retired from the Tappan Company and enjoyed drawing, and sports. Mr. Bishop dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Helen Snow Bishop; five children, Karen Bill Foor, Russell Barb Bishop, Charlot Gleisinger and Dawn Miller, all of Mansfield and Brenda Dillon of Galion; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; twin brother, Robert Bernice Bishop of Mansfield; sister, Marcella Bernhardt of Mansfield; half brother, Donnie Boyle of Mansfield; half sister, Angie Boyle of Alabama; special friend, Terri Remy of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Lindsey Kline.
Friends may call Thursday, August 3 from 5-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with additional calling one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
