Rose Mary Baughman, 94, of Mansfield, died Friday, November 9, 2007 at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home after a short illness. Rose was born in Pittsburgh, PA on Jan. 2, 1913 and moved to Mansfield with her father, Nicholas and mother, Rose Kantz Besch when she was 8 years old. Her father, born in Austria'Hungary came to America in 1909. Her mother came to America as a young teen and never saw her parents again. Rose and her husband, Howard raised their family at their 633 Yale Dr. home where Rose lived for over 50 years. Her husband owned and operated Baughman's Grocery Market for 37 years where Rose worked part time after the children were reared. Rose and Howard accepted Jesus Christ early in their marriage after being invited to a young married couples Bible study. They then started attending the Grace Gospel Church which later became Christian and Missionary Alliance on 3rd Street. Rose was active in teaching Sunday and Bible School, supporting foreign missions and served in many other ways through the years. Rose is remembered for her caring and sacrificial heart, clearly evidenced by her generosity in helping others. She was an outstanding and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She is noted for her delicious roasted chicken and rice and her excellent elderberry pie. Her hobbies included playing games with her grandchildren, gardening, painting, sewing and cooking.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Nancy Allen of Galena, OH, and two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Sonnie Baughman of Sanford, FL and Jim and Rochelle Baughman of Mansfield; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Ann Kinkle, of Englewood, OH and two sisters-in-law, Francis Besch of Mansfield and Dorothy Besch of Marion, OH. Preceding her in death were her husband, Howard in 1983, their infant son, Kenneth in 1938, three brothers John, Nick and Robert Besch, and a sister Helen Geiselman.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, November 11 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Senior-Care Pastor Jim Cheatham officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to 'The Great Commission Fund', Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, at the funeral home.
