Robert L. Starner, 79, of Lexington, died February 9, 2008 at Hospice House in Ashland. He went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning. Born January 7, 1929 in Lancaster, he was the son of Orval and Vera Crutcher Starner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War and was a member of Bellville V.F.W. Post #9825. Robert retired as Branch Manager from Borden Dairy in 1991 after 33 years of service. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Brubaker Starner; three children, Linda Roger Snell of Frankfort, KY, Pamela Thomas Segelhorst of Kingsport, TN and son, Craig Starner of Kingsport, TN; two stepchildren, Joel Brubaker of Wilmington, NC and Julia Brubaker; four grandchildren, Rachel and Hannah Snell and Robert and Michael Segelhorst; two brothers, David Carol Starner of Lancaster and Thomas Starner of Millersport; a sister, Jane Mo Momyer of FL; cousins, Don and Charlene Carpenter; brother-in-law, Charles Reed of Lancaster; sister-in-law, Wilma "Sissy" Wilkins of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Marjorie A. "Boo" Starner; parents; brother, Orval "Jack" Starner; and sister, Ellen "Sue" Reed.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 11 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in First English Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Forest Rose Cemetery in Lancaster. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or Renewing God's House Appeal, c/o First English Lutheran Church.
