Robert L. Mathews, 87, of Mansfield passed away at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital on Thursday, April 12, 2018. He was born on January 30, 1931 in Jacksonville, Illinois. He was the son of Franklin R. and Helen A. (Snyder) Mathews.
Robert worked at Jostens for 23 years, and was a former board member of Richland New Hope. He was a member at Westbrook Country Club for 35 years where he spent much time playing the sport he truly loved, golf. He also enjoyed countless hours on ski patrol at Mansfield Snow Trails. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and playing the stock market.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Roth) Mathews; daughter, Deborah (Tom) Carlson; son, Mark Mathews (Cathy Walters); six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; best friend, Gatton Hamilton; and his brother, Jack Mathews.
