Robert Kisling, 70, died Sunday, September 21, 2008, at Samaritan Regional Hospital in Ashland. Born September 2, 1938 in Mansfield, he was the son of the late Floyd and Elsie McIntyre Kisling. He was a graduate of Ashland University and Kent State University, receiving a Bachelor Degree in Education. In his earlier years, he worked many hours on the family dairy farm in the Crestview area. He retired from Crestview Schools where his brother, to whom he was very close, recalled his love of teaching Junior High history and English for over twenty-two years. He was a very intelligent and generous gentleman, even during the difficult times in his life. Bob was a dynamic communicator, sports fan and even coached during his teaching career. He was a historian, recalling many poignant facts about WWII and the Civil War. Bob also served in the U.S. Army, an honor of which he and his family were very proud.
He is survived by his dear brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Tebara Kisling of Mansfield; two nephews, Jeff Kelly Kisling of Mansfield and Joe Kisling of Chicago, IL; a niece, Kathy John Tennis of Ashland; and four great-nieces, Taylor and Tory Tennis and Kaitlin and Kourtney Kisling.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Windsor Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Gess officiating. Friends may call from 9-9:30 a.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. The Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will present military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Brethren Care Village.
