Richard D. Sautter, 74, of Mansfield, died Sunday morning at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a brief illness. He was born September 23, 1931 in Morrow County. He graduated from Chester Franklin High School in 1949. Richard was a realtor, builder, and developer. He was president of Southside Development Co., and in later years, Richard had the opportunity to work side by side with his son Ron creating custom homes in the Mansfield and Bellville area. He was also proud of his 50 year achievement as a local realtor. Richard was a former member of the Mansfield Board of Realtors and former board member of the BIA. He was a member of Mansfield Liederkranz, B.P.O. Elks #56, and the Moose Lodge. In his free time, Richard relaxed by the water. He and his wife Mary Ann enjoyed their Lake Erie summer home, fishing, and boating. He also spent time by the river in Bellville planting sunflowers and wheat for the wildlife. Richard simply loved the outdoors. Surviving are his wife of twenty years, Mary Ann, whom he married July 26, 1986; two sons, Gerald and Gail Sautter of Bellville and Ron and Terry Sautter of Mansfield, three daughters, Gayle and Wayne Meadows of Mansfield, Jane Demyan of Florida, Ann and Mike McCabe of Roswell, Georgia; step son, Bruce and Cathy Cloes of Mansfield; three sisters, Betty and Bob Chapman and Barbara and Tom Detwiler all of Mt. Gilead, Avalene and Gilbert Barrick of Mansfield; one brother, Donald and Eloise Sautter of Mansfield; grandchildren, Nicolle and Ryan Knapp, Meghan and Conor McCabe, Brielle, Colden and Broegan Sautter, Hailee and Derek Sautter; step grandchildren, Tina and Tanya Parsons, Amy, Brian and Brett Cloes; brothers-in-law, Robert and Joey Jones and Roy and Pat Jones; and his former wife, Maxine Simmons Sautter of Bellville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lulu Sautter; two granddaughters, Amnee and Chelsea Demyan; a step daughter, Deborah Parsons; and a son-in-law, Mike Slack.Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday, August 9, 2006 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Pastor David Root of the Little Washington Congregational Church.
