Richard E. Eyerly, 75, of Shiloh, died Friday evening, June 4, 2004, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. He was born June 3, 1929, in Shelby to Arthur and Grace McNaul Eyerly and was an area resident his entire life. Richard retired from Consolidated Freightways after 36 years of service. He was a member of Local #40 Teamsters Union. He attended Oakland Lutheran Church and loved the outdoors. A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army. Richard will be remembered as a great storyteller.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Eyerly of Shiloh; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Brenda Eyerly of Hamilton, Ohio; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, David Eyerly of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patricia, son, Tim, sisters, Mary Ellen Rieter and Dorothy Smith, brother, William Eyerly, and nephew, Dean McElvain.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Monday, June 7 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Paul Lintern and Rev. Ron Daley. Military graveside services will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rehab Center or American Lung Association.
