Richard Allen Dailey, 81, of Mansfield died early Thursday morning, January 22, 2004 at Country Meadow Care Center. He was born April 24, 1922, in Mansfield to Roy A. and Hazel Marie Allen Dailey. He was a retired truck driver for Wickes Lumber and also worked at Home Materials. Richard attended Lincoln Heights Church of Christ in Christian Union. He was a member of the V.F.W. and Country Music Association. He enjoyed woodworking, puzzles, flower gardening, camping and had a great sense of humor. He served during WWII with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carolyn Heston of Fredericktown, Ohio, Marilyn and Bob Lingafelter of Mansfield, and Georgia McGee of Norwalk, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Diane Dailey of Ontario; fourteen grandchildren, Donald Travis, Dianna Lilly, Wendy Fairchild, Amy Pfahler, Robert Hupp, Tina Brown, Terri Brown, Brian Perkins, Kelly Camp, John Lingafelter, Gloria McCafferty, Robyn Thomas, Jessica Little and Angela Neuhart; forty great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Don Travis of Fredericktown; two brothers, Jim Dailey of Mansfield and Bob Dailey of Ontario; a sister, Leona Steiner of Ontario; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cat, Sammy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Lois Disbennett Dailey in November 1999; daughter, Beverly Travis in December 2000; sons-in-law, Rex Heston in December 2000 and James McGee; sister, Eldred Warner; brother, Roy Franklin Dailey; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 24, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, officiated by Rev. Bruce Morrison. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Military graveside services will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
