He was a 1965 graduate of Malabar High School. Rex retired on October 31, 2009 from the U.S. Postal Service where he was a mail handler for 30 years. A fun loving, easygoing man, he had a wonderful sense of humor and was always willing to chat with anyone who was near. Rex was an avid sports fan-with football being his favorite-cheering on the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed fishing in his spare time.
On June 30, 1982, he married Carol Palmer and they celebrated nearly 30 years of marriage. He enjoyed working out at the YMCA and Fit1, was the assistant coach for Mansfield Senior High School Girls Soccer and recently began assistant coaching an Upwards basketball team. Watching his grandchildren play various sports brought great pride and joy to Rex.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Snyder; children, Jeff (Renee) Davis, Dan (Penny) Snyder, Michael (Penny) Snyder, Mary (Thomas) Harris, Jeremy (Candi) Goetz, Brandie (Joe) Boebel and Adam Snyder; thirteen grandchildren, Robbie, Kelsey, Braden, Nadine, Meghan, Kyla, Helen, Ashley, Jake, David, Cody, Colby and Caden; one great-grandchild, Jordyn; one sister, Peggy (Keith “Red”) Mandeville; and nephews, Jeff and Scott Mandeville. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip Snyder; and brother, Barry Snyder.
Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Contributions in memory of Rex may be made to the Mansfield Senior High School Girls Soccer Team.
