
Rev. David Shawn Reed, 40, of Madison, Ohio, died Monday, December 24, 2007 at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland after a lengthy illness. Born September 30, 1967 in Galion, he was the son of William H. Reed and Judith Ann Grubb Reese. He graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene College in 1991 and Ashland Seminary in 1995 with a Masters in Divinity. David was previously a United Methodist Church minister throughout Ohio. He was called into ministry at the age of 14 under the Pastoral mentoring of Rev. Ted L. Austin. David loved the youth and was always involved in the youth ministry. A people person, he always looked out for others. A sports fan, he was an avid follower of the Cleveland Browns Football team. Most of all, David loved his girls and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jonna A. Bolyard Reed, whom he married May 30, 1992; two daughters, Winnie Ann, age 9, and Abby Joy, age 8; brother, William H. Reed II of Galion; sister, Michelle R. Burkhart of Ontario; father and stepmother, William H. and Diane Marie Reed of Galion; stepfather, David D. Reese; grandfather, Joseph Grubb of Galion; six nieces; four nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith A. Reese in 1990.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2007 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Ted L. Austin. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Madison, Ohio.
