Pearl Ellen Snyder, 92, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday morning, September 6, 2017, at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby. She was born January 29, 1925, in Shelby, Ohio, the only daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Bushey) Gallaway.
Pearl graduated from Shelby High School. An out-spoken woman, she spoke the truth even if you didn't want to hear it. Her strong, independent -and a bit ornery- nature was balanced with the tender loving care she showed her family and friends. Her husband and family was most important to her and she made it clear that she loved them dearly. Pearl's smile and laugh could change your entire day for the better.
She had a strong faith in the Lord and wasn't shy about her beliefs. Pearl enjoyed listening to music, especially the Gaither's gospel music. Pearl enjoyed sharing her faith and meeting people, making new friends both at church and in the community.
She is survived by her son, Keith (Peggy) Snyder of Mansfield; two grandchildren, Joseph (Ashlee) Snyder and Krissi (Dustin) Lane, both of Mansfield; five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kaylee, Kristine, Madilyn and Taylor; and a sister-in-law, Izora Gallaway. In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell C. Snyder; son, Kevin Snyder, and brothers, Earl, Donald, Owen, Dean, Noel and Ray Gallaway.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2017, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Phillips officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mansfield Memorial Park.
