Ova M. Herder, 80 of 132 S. Walker Ave. died unexpectedly Monday evening, June 26, 2000 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Mrs. Herder was born September 29, 1919 in Van Buren County, Tennessee living in the Mansfield area most of her life. She retired from Madison Local Schools where she was a cook and was also employed at Hartman Electric and Westinghouse. Mrs. Herder attended Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, Walker Lake Road. She loved making quilts, sewing, and embroidering. Mrs. Herder was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be remembered as a very giving lady with a good heart.
On the evening of June 26th the family of Ova Herder lost their best friend. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William A. & Susan K. Herder of Lucas and Michael R. & Kathryn E. Herder of Mansfield; four grandsons, William R. Herder and Andrew T. Herder, both of Lucas and Daniel J. Herder and James M. Herder, both of Mansfield; one granddaughter, Rebecca D. Craycraft of Columbus; four sisters, Lina Kunz of Mansfield, Maebell Bailey and Joene Balf, both of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Frances Pardi of Phoenix, Arizona; three brothers, Henry T. Haston and Franklin D. Haston, both of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Elwood C. Haston of Spencer, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Casto T. & Ida Grace Jordan Haston; her husband, Emil Herder, whom she married October 31, 1942 in Rossville, Georgia; and two brothers, J.T. Haston and Cooper H. Haston.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 29, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Ron Hyde. Burial will be at Mansfield Memorial Park.
