Norma J. Neff, 82, of Mansfield, passed away May 31, 2014 at Hospice House of Ashland. Born November 10, 1931 in Paden City, WV, she was the daughter of John E. and Allie (Poole) Hizer. As a homemaker, she will be remembered for her great homemade noodles, fried chicken, and brown paper bag apple pie. She enjoyed canning their homegrown vegetables. Norma loved being outdoors tending to her flowers in the summer and shoveling snow in the winter. She was known by various nicknames, Bub, as her husband would call her, Bugs, as her friends and neighbors would refer to her, and Gaum, which her grandchildren lovingly called her.
Norma enjoyed her many vacations with family to Myrtle Beach, Niagra Falls, and other destinations. An avid bowler at Park Lanes in the 60's and 70's, she made many lifelong friends and cherished the many good times and laughs they enjoyed together.
She is survived by her daughter, Marlene (Dana) Blasberg of Ontario. She was a loving grandmother to Nicole (Troy) Blasberg Ruff of Hillard, OH, Brandon (Ellen Zikakis) Blasberg of Lexington, OH, and Wes (Dawn) Blasberg of Basalt, CO and great-grandmother to Blake, Brayden, and Lexi Blasberg, Cameron, Arrianne, and Addison Ruff, and Landon and Maddelyn Blasberg.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilford Neff, whom she married June 3, 1950; son, Terry Neff; sisters, Mary Alice "Sis" Templeton and Virginia "Ginny" Chambers; and brothers, Charles Hizer and Robert Hizer.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
