A life-long resident of Lucas, she was born on December 4, 1937, to George and Pauline (Flenner) Smith. Marge had an outstanding work ethic and worked hard her entire life. After graduating from Lucas High School in 1955, she worked at the Tappan Company and later at the North American Knitting Mill, Hursh Drugs, Mansfield OB/GYN, and Port-A-Cook.
In her younger years, Marge enjoyed playing softball and golfing. Gardening was one of her favorite activities, and she took considerable pride in maintaining her flower beds. When she was not gardening, she enjoyed spending time with her dogs Max and Gracie. Marge had a deep love for animals, and her dogs will miss her care and affection.
Marge leaves behind several nieces and nephews to cherish her memory. She is survived by Debbie (Harold) Hamilton, Rob (Marie) Smith, Janet (Sam) VanCura, Peggy (Gary) Cooper, Carla (Bix) Sluss, Judie (Ken) Ward, Julie Nedrow, Jill Ward, Danette Sauder, Danny (Charity) Iceman and Peach (Mick) Rettig.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Bessie, Bobby, Chuck, Don, Shirley Iceman, Ken and Betty Nussbaum; and her nieces and nephews, Karen Basquin, David Smith, Tammy Parsons, and Ben Burgy.
The family is planning a private burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield is honored to serve the Smith family.
