Marjorie Gorman

An avid aviator, Marge was a commercially rated pilot and one of the first 100 women helicopter licensed pilots in the world. She piloted aircraft across the Atlantic Ocean on four occasions. Marge was a past president of the Mansfield Aviation Club, a member of the Ninety-Nines Women's Pilot Association, The Whirly Girls, and a long time volunteer at Kingwood Center Gardens.

The daughter of Jessie and Carrie Smith Newcomer of Ashland, she is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Gorman; son, Jeff (Shellie) Gorman; daughter, Gayle Gorman Green (Rich); grandsons, Ryan Gorman, Curtis Freeman and Stewart Freeman; granddaughters, Kelsey Gorman and Elyse Freeman; brothers, Stanley (Donna), Norman (Kay), and Richard (Patty); a sister, Frances Harned; plus many nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Kingwood Center Gardens, MedCentral Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
