Marilyn "Betty" Masheter, age 93, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Winchester Terrace. Born on May 20, 1931, in Perrysville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Harry and M. Irene Draper.
A proud 1949 graduate of Loudonville High School, Betty worked various jobs in Loudonville and Mansfield before moving to Columbus. She later retired from the OSU Research Foundation as an Administrative Assistant, and she moved back to Mansfield after she retired.
She later married Richard Masheter, and she moved to Thurston, Ohio together they shared 23 years of happiness.
After he died, she moved back to Mansfield be near her sister Rosemary. Betty was a born-again Christian she knew she, (like the rest of us), was a sinner saved by Jesus Christ our Savior, the Son of God. She served the Lord at the Loudonville First Baptist Church, Fairfield Baptist in Thurston, Ohio, and Diamond Hills Baptist Church in Mansfield.
Betty is survived by her sister, Rosemary Lewis; niece, Pam Draper Jester; niece-in-law, Susie Draper; seven great nieces and nephews and their families; a step-son, Bob (Christie) Masheter and their family; and a step-daughter, Betty (Bill) Wershing and their family.
Preceded by parents, Harry Draper and M. Irene Draper Kiefer; her husband, Richard; her brother, Perry “Jim” (Margaret “Peg”) Draper her sister, Maxine (Ralph) Lowe; her brothers-in-law, Chuck Lewis and Dave McBride; and her nephew, Terry Draper.
There will be a gathering from 11:00-11:30 am at Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield, 98 S. Diamond Street on Thursday, April 17, 2025. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm at Greenlawn Union Cemetery in Perrysville, Ohio with Rev. Christopher R. Thomas officiating.
