Kent was a 1960 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and a 1965 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and had worked for several area pharmacies. He was a veteran of the Air National Guard. Kent was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golfing and watching it on TV as well as watching history shows. He was a lover of nature and also enjoyed his cat "Kitty", but his greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Ruth (Wise) Schindler; a daughter, Lisa and her husband, Matthew Jevack of Charlottesville, Virginia; two granddaughters, Mia and Cait Jevack; a sister, Margene and her husband, Ron MacCartney of Nokomis, Florida; a brother, Bruce Schindler of Cincinnati, Ohio; a step sister, Audrey Dotson of Shelby; nieces and nephews, Brian MacCartney, Reneé MacCartney, Laura MacCartney, Kimberly Kollmann and her husband, Jonathan and Christa Schindler Draut and her husband, Roman; and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Schindler and Marie Schindler Weaver, his step father, Ray Weaver and a sister-in-law, Karen Schindler.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2018 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 West Cook Road, Mansfield, Ohio conducted by Rev. Dr. Pentti Maki. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, OhioHealth Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
