Sent by God to her parents, Maxine (Wright) and Gerald Cates on October 2, 1939, she was the oldest daughter and loved her siblings, Brenda (Bill) Sweval, Susan (Gary) Husbands, John (Joann) Cates and Jim (Marsha) Cates.
On October 8, 1956, Judy married the love of her life, James "Big Jim" Boyd in the back of a hardware store in Mansfield, Ohio. Together they brought four beautiful children into this world. Judy excelled at being a mother. She raised her children with love, hard work, morals and taught them what it means to be a family.
She is survived by one son, James G. (Joyce) Boyd of Mansfield; three daughters, Kimberly (Frank) Waggnoner of Mansfield, Connie (Jim) Pagani of Wooster and Tammy (Jack) Boyd of Mansfield. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren who are grateful for every minute she was in their lives; twenty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband.
Judy loved traveling with her sisters and husband, cooking, helping others, shopping and, most of all, being a Grammy, Nana, Great Grammy, Aunt and friend to all. She loved God, her family and her country. She was a member of VFW Post #3494 Auxiliary where she enjoyed helping and working with veterans until she got ill. Judy will be remembered as an angel on earth, a beautiful and kind soul, and a mother to all who needed one. She will never be forgotten for she is with us when we feel the breeze touch our cheek.
The family welcomes all who would like to pay their respects to the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, on Sunday, October 15, 2017, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Clifford Earl Tackett officiating. She will be laid to rest in Lantz Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
