John E. Utt, age 71, of Mansfield, died Tuesday December 7, 2004 at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. Born November 8, 1933 in Parsons, West Virginia, he was the son of Fred and Evalyn Gray Utt. He has lived in Mansfield since 1947 and attended the Apostolic Faith Assembly. He had worked at Richland Shale Brick Company and then retired from Stone Container Corporation. Mr. Utt served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Moose Lodge #341 and enjoyed playing poker and cutting wood.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Donna Hilliard Utt; six children and their spouses, Rev. Rick and Pam Utt of Mansfield, John and April Utt of Mifflin, Lynn and Jim Owens of Mansfield, Tammy Utt of Port Washington, Ohio, Beth and Robert Smith of Mansfield, and James and Leah Utt of Mansfield; 13 grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Karen and Donnie Swinford, and Charlotte Smith, all of Mansfield; two brothers and sister-in-law, Donald Utt, and Fred and Charlene Utt, all of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Johnny E. Owens.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday December 9, 2004 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday December 10 at the Apostolic Faith Assembly, 258 Stadium St. Mansfield, Ohio 44906, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert O'Brian officiating and Ricky Utt, Jr. assisting. Military graveside services will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
